Sewing pattern: choose to receive the sewing pattern for the < cedar > top in paper format (delivered to your home), or in PDF format (sent directly to your email inbox upon confirmation of the order)
- Sleeveless round neck crop top
- Sportswear or sophisticated look depending on the fabric chosen
- Dropped shoulder
- Invisible zipper in the middle back
- Invisible bias at the neckline and armholes
- Double hem on the bottom
- Unlined
NB: We sewed the blue version without finishing (because we love raw edges as you know) but the pattern does provide for finishing :) (invisible zipper for non-stretch fabrics, double hem and invisible bias)
Paper Pattern
Printed in large format and ready to use, our patterns are designed to make your job easier. Pieces don't overlap, and seam allowances are included and visible, allowing you to cut directly from your pattern, without spending time tracing everything. We also include numerous anecdotes and sewing tips to help you complete your project.
Our paper patterns come in their <disclothed> paris cardboard pouch, allowing you to store them neatly in your workshop. Their layout has been optimized to use a minimum of paper 🌱
You also receive:
- A <disclothed> Paris sewing label, woven in the south of France
- A technical sheet including the cutting plan and QR codes directing you to the digital editing range and the complete tutorial video
PDF pattern
In a hurry? Opt for our PDF patterns: we've put just as much love into them as we did with our paper patterns (ease of use, sewing tips, etc.), but they have the advantage of being less expensive and landing directly in your inbox as soon as your order is validated. You'll receive them in A4 or A0 (large format) if you want to send them to your printer. A US Letter version is also available for American printers. If you've never used a PDF pattern before, we'll explain how it works here .
You will also receive a technical sheet including the cutting plan and QR codes directing you to the digital editing range and the complete tutorial video.
You will learn to
- Lay iron-on straight grain
- Make a basting stitch
- Sew an invisible zipper
- Place an invisible bias on a neckline with an invisible zipper in the middle of the back
- Place invisible bias on armholes
Difficulty level
Intermediate. The < cedar > top is suitable for those who have already sewn a few projects. While the cut may seem simple, the finishing touches can quickly become tricky for the uninitiated (especially the zipper and invisible bias binding).
Sewing prerequisites
- Know how to thread your machine and make basic adjustments (length and choice of stitch)
- Master the concepts of right side/wrong side of a fabric and straight grain
- Know and master the breakpoint
- Know what a seam allowance is
- Know how to "overcast" or "serge" (using a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine or an overlocker)
Completion time
It will take 5 to 6 hours to complete your < cedar > top
Seam allowances
Seam allowances are always included and visible in our shop. They are 1 cm here.
Recommended fabrics
- No elasticity is necessary for this model (which is oversized). You can, however, use a stretch fabric if you wish and thus avoid sewing the zipper in the middle of the back. Any jersey could therefore be suitable if you like the casual spirit of the model and you do not want to bother with complex finishes :) You will thus obtain a kind of cropped and sleeveless t-shirt, for a cool and fuss-free silhouette.
- For a more sophisticated look, we recommend using a non-stretch, warp and weft fabric (in this case, a zipper in the center back will be required). In this case, we recommend a fairly heavy fabric (around 300 or 350g/m) to ensure that your < cedar > top has a nice fit in the end.
- Please note that the jersey version (without zipper) will be perfectly accessible to beginners in sewing, while the more sophisticated version with the proposed finishes will be of an intermediate level.

Size Guide - CEDAR TOP
Choose your usual size...
We size our models as closely as possible to what is done in traditional ready-to-wear. So, if you usually wear a size L in stores, you should get a L here. If you're unsure, refer to the size chart below (and go to the bottom of this page if you're unsure how to take your measurements):
Corresponding size | Your chest measurement (cm) | Your chest measurement (inches) |
XS | 82 cm | 32 1/4 inches |
S | 86 cm | 33 7/8 inches |
M | 90 cm | 35 1/2 inches |
L | 96 cm | 37 3/4 inches |
XL | 102 cm | 40 1/4 inches |
XXL | 108 cm | 42 1/2 inches |
XXXL | 114 cm | 45 inches |
...but watch your eyes!
Size | XS | S | M | L | XL | XXL | XXXL |
Chest size | 106 cm | 110 cm | 116 cm | 122 cm | 128 cm | 134 cm | 140 cm |
Center Front Length | 26.2 cm | 27.2 cm | 28.7 cm | 30.2 cm | 31.7 cm | 33.2 cm | 34.7 cm |
Center Back Length | 32.4 cm | 33.4 cm | 34.9 cm | 36.4 cm | 37.9 cm | 39.4 cm | 40.9 cm |
How to take your measurements when sewing?
To measure your bust size, take a tape measure and measure around your bust line: that is, at the widest point of your bust (across the chest). Do not tighten, and do not add an allowance (we add an allowance ourselves when making the pattern).
